Our bass charters last 6 hours and cost $500 .
What's the big deal with bass fishing in Lake Okeechobee (Lake 'O') and the Kissimmee River Chain?
The bass in Lake Okeechobee and the Kissimmee River often run between 7 and 10 pounds. The Florida state record bass was caught in Lake Okeechobee and weighed 15 pounds and 5 ounces. So there are absolute monster bass that can be caught in the lake.
Lake 'O' is considered by most bass anglers as the number one big bass fishing lake in the United States. There are days when you can catch a dozen bass over 5 pounds. Ten pounders are caught very consistently. That is why bass fishermen from all over the world come to Lake Okeechobee.
The best time of the year for catching HUGE bass is the winter months!!!
How many people can be on the fishing charter?
The charter is for 2 people max plus your Captain. The boat is a 17 foot skiff made for very shallow water fishing scenarios. We can stalk fish in less than 12 inches of water.
What is a typical charter like?
Our bass fishing charter is a light tackle, lure tossing adventure.
Winter bass fishing in Lake Okeechobee is all about finding clean water. The wind can really stir up the water and make it very murky. We will move around until we find clean water and feeding fish.
When we can find the clean water, then we can usually find the hungry bass too. In the winter months the good bass fishing can last all day because the water temperatures don't get too hot so the bass tend to stay in the shallows.
Sight fishing for monster bass with top water frogs or weed less soft plastics, in the shallows is an absolute blast. That is our main fishing technique but we can pitch Texas rigged soft plastics or jigs around structure in deeper water if the shallow water bite is slow.
We will keep moving until we find where the hungry bass are.
Our charters are all about you having a fun day out on the water.
Is the flats boat comfortable to fish from?
YES! This 17 foot custom flats boat was built and designed specifically to maximize your fishing efficiency. The front casting deck is 6 feet long and the entire cockpit is wide open (4 ft. X 8 ft.) for a better fishing and casting experience.
There is no center console to get in the way of your fishing adventures. Less is more when it comes to shallow water, inshore fishing and my custom built flats boat was designed perfectly for shallow water fishing at its best.
Can we keep the fish that we catch?
NO. I am a Captain who is very concerned about the sustainability of our lakes, ponds, marine ecosystems and the fish populations along the Treasure Coast.
If you just want to fill your cooler with fish, then I am not the guide for you. I will gladly refer you to another Captain who caters to "meat hunters".
What comes with the fishing charter?
Your Captain will provide all of your safety equipment, cold water, all of your fishing rods, reels, lures and pictures of your fishing adventure.
Do charter clients need to get their own fishing licenses?
Yes. Florida law prohibits freshwater Captains from supplying licenses for clients like they can in saltwater. The good news is that Florida has some of the cheapest fishing licenses in the country.

What should your fishing clients bring?
You can bring a smile, polarized sun glasses, a hat and clothing to protect you from the sun, your fishing license and a rain jacket (just in case). It is also a good idea to bring some snacks if you are planning on eating during the fishing trip.
DO NOT BRING spray on sun screen. (It gets all over the boat, bait and tackle.)
DO NOT WEAR dark soled shoes. (They scuff up the fishing decks.)
DO NOT BRING beer. (There are no bathrooms.)
Where do your fishing charters launch from?
We launch from various ramps on the north side of Lake Okeechobee and sometimes in the Kissimmee River just outside of Lake 'O'. It depends upon where the bite is the best based on the wind and weather conditions.
How do we lock in a fishing charter with your company?
You can email contact@fishyourassoff.com or call 561-339-2317 and leave a message about the date you want to fish. I will call you back and confirm the availability of your charter date and take a $100 deposit to lock in your spot.
The balance will be collected at the ramp before the charter begins in cash.
We also require you to sign a risk liability waiver before getting onto the boat. You can review that document here.
What if we need to cancel the charter?
I need at least 72 hours of notice to cancel your trip or your deposit will be forfeited. If you cancel before 72 hours then you can get your $100 deposit back or you can take a rain check good for 12 months.
Do you have gift certificates?
Yes. You can buy a fishing charter in advance for the fishermen in your life. The certificates are good for 12 months from the purchase date.
